Shangri-La is a chain renowned for its design uniformity across time and space but some of its properties are palpably more endowed with luxurious qualities. At Rasa Ria resort in Kota Kinabalu these qualities are expertly rendered, whether it's a breakfast trek at 6 am that ends with breathtaking views of Mt Kinabalu or a bubbly soak at dusk strewn with rose petals, romance and adventure await at this secluded haven endowed with nature and all its spectacular vistas. True to its Shangri-La DNA, there are plenty of gourmet options at this remote resort, whether one opts for the teppanyaki theatrics of Kozan or the hearty Italian fares at Oceano. We also enjoyed the spicy curries at Naan - Flavours of India, and wouldn't pass up on the fabulous breakfast spread at Oceano in the morning. At the end of the day, luxury comes in all shapes and sizes and while Rasa Ria is certainly a sizeable 499 keys property, its Ocean Tower harbouring suites with generously sized balconies (all set with a jaccuzzi no less) pointing towards unforgettable dusks and dawns makes this resort a worthy contender on our Asia Top 100 List.
